The Association is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres.
This role is based at our YMCA in Walthamstow, reporting to the Area Director and responsible for the Health and Wellbeing team, as well as the Membership Sales and Administration team. The post holder will be expected to provide leadership, direction and operational management of the Health and Wellbeing department, ensuring high quality provision of service and excellence in customer care.
Ideally, we are looking for a person with previous experience in a similar role and who will bring energy, passion and commitment to this position. The candidate should hold a CVQ Advanced Gym Instructor (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or above in a Health and Fitness related qualification that is recognised by REPS or CIMSPA. An understanding of the social housing/charity sector would be advantageous.
Some duties include:
- Ensuring the highest standards of customer care are maintained
- Answering any complaints or queries from members that the team cannot answer
- Ensuring all staff are recruited, inducted and trained to deliver their service to a good standard
- To write annual business plans, taking into account the strategic plan and budgets
- Adjusting the operation and marketing of the service to ensure good financial performance
- Ensuring sales teams are reaching targets
- Seeking out funding for the development of community programmes
Applicants should possess some experience of working in a similar role at a similar level of responsibility; possess good communication and relationship management skills; have experience of dealing with vulnerable groups and security issues associated with a residential setting; possess experience of cash-handling and security of cash; be numerate and computer literate with good customer service/front of house skills.
