Elderly people stretching

Bodybalance is the exciting group fitness class from Les Mills coming to YMCA White House on Monday 4 December. It’s a motivating blend of yoga with Tai Chi and Pilates. If you’re looking for a friendly fitness class that leaves you feeling energised, then Bodybalance is most definitely for you.

You’ll bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is a key component and our lovely instructors Martine and Kirsty will always provide options for beginners. You’ll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centred. How wonderful is that at this busy time of year?

“After each Bodybalance class I feel I’ve worked hard, but it also has an amazing effect on my sense of wellbeing. The gentle flow and focus on breath helps me take time out of my busy life and simply slow down. It leaves me feeling calm and energised,” says Jane, 52, Health & Wellbeing member at YMCA Hawker, Kingston.

You don’t need to splash out on fancy gym gear, as comfortable workout clothes are fine. You don’t need trainers either; just a warm hoodie to pop on during the final relaxation track as you cool down.

If you are completely new to Yoga, Tai Chi or Pilates, it’s realistic to expect that you will need to come along to three or four sessions before you feel settled with the different moves. You’ll start to feel benefits if you come along just once a week, but if you attend two or three sessions a week you will really notice a difference to your overall fitness.

“Bodybalance has become my favourite class to teach. It’s a really accessible workout and suits most people regardless of fitness and flexibility as options are given throughout,” says YMCA Health & Wellbeing Manager Zoe Watson.

Come along for your first FREE trial class and bring a friend from Monday 4 December, 10.30am. Classes will be on a pay as you go basis, at just £7 per session. Bodybalance will be running on Mondays, 10.30am-11.30am (Room 3); Wednesdays, 8.30pm-9.30pm (small hall); and Saturdays, 9.30am-10.30am (small hall).
