Get involved at YMCA Surbiton
Meet ups and more…
On the last Friday of every month we get together to enjoy a traditional two-course meal, entertainment, a raffle and some fun and friendship. All for just £8 a head.
Every Monday join us for coffee and games between 10am–12 noon at the YMCA Surbiton Community Café with Nicky or at our ‘Teapot’ event every Wednesday with Joyce between 2.30pm–4pm. Enjoy each other’s company and catch up on the week’s events.
Love to sing and meet new people? The community choir at YMCA Surbiton meets every Wednesday, 7–8.30pm. There is no audition and it costs just £3.50 – just turn up! For more information or to sign up click below.
We leave the YMCA Surbiton centre cafe promptly at 10am. Please wear appropriate clothing, especially footwear. We have a variety of walks throughout the year every other Wednesday. We ask you to cover your expenses, but otherwise, all walks are free.
Claygate Circular – 2 October
We take the bus to the Claygate and follow the road, footpath and woodland route to return for lunch in the village.
About 4 miles. Some incline and decline, high probability of mud.
Brompton Cemetery – 16 October
A train and tube journey takes us to a gentle stroll around yet another of the magnificent seven cemeteries. We then walk on to Fulham Broadway for lunch and the return home.
About 3.4 miles. Flat and paved.
Shoreditch and Hoxton – 6 November
Once one of the poorest London districts, this area is now thriving. We take the train and underground to Liverpool street to start our walk, which passes examples of Victorian philanthropy and modern upmarket living. After lunch, the bus returns us to Waterloo.
About 4 miles. Flat and paved.
Putney to Clapham – 20 November
This rarely taken route is a mainly riverside walk, largely following the Thames Path and viewing the river, so important in the past for the movement of both passengers and cargo. We have lunch in our familiar Weatherspoon’s in Clapham before returning home. Led by Brenda.
About 4.5 miles. Flat and paved.
Churches in the City of London – 4 December
By special request, the walk takes us to just a very few of the many beautiful churches and towers in the City of London. We shall travel by train and bus to the start of our tour and lunch before our return to Waterloo.
About 3.5 miles. Flat and paved.
Please note a small donation of say £3 will contribute to the upkeep of these historic buildings as we pass through them
Christmas lunch – 18 December
Once again Linda has kindly agreed to organise our traditional Christmas lunch. If you would like to come please let her know as soon as you can, so that numbers can be finalised for the table booking.
First walk of 2020 takes place Wednesday 8 January
