Out and about with YMCA Wimbledon
Love to sing and meet new people? Following the success of our community choir at YMCA Wimbledon, we are starting a new group which will meet every Tuesday, 7-8.30pm. There is no audition and it costs just £3.50 – just turn up! For more information or to sign up please fill out our enquiry form.
Our regular walks start from YMCA Wimbledon at 10am on a Tuesday, returning mid-afternoon. They are free of charge and you will need to pay for your own expenses, such as transport and refreshments. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in good enough health to participate.
24 March – Balham and Tooting Bec Common
This circular walk follows the footsteps of Arthur Smith, the comedian and self-proclaimed Mayor of Balham, as he describes a walk round his local patch in the Time Out book of London walks.
Travel to the start of the walk is by the Northern Line from South Wimbledon station to Balham. The walk ends at Balham station.
About 3 miles on flat paths
21 April – Crystal Palace to Streatham Common, Section 4 of the Capital Ring
Emerging from Crystal Palace station, the route goes up and down hill providing splendid views North and South, crossing parks and woodland to reach Streatham Common and ending at the Rookery Café.
Travel to Crystal Palace is by train from Wimbledon Station to Clapham Junction and then changing platforms for the train to Crystal Palace. Return is by train from Streatham station where Thameslink trains depart every 30 minutes.
About 4 miles on hilly, tarmac and pavements, with some woodland paths.
