Children and families newsletter July

30 June 2022

Welcome to the July issue of our monthly online newsletter for children and families, produced by the Children and Family Work team at YMCA St. Paul’s Group.

We strive to create positive outcomes with children and young people in their communities, and provide support for families with nursery, day care, holiday and year-round programmes.

Take a look at the sections below to learn about what we will be up to across our various children and families services in July.

International Mud Day 29 June 2022

On International Mud Day children will be mixing soil, water, and other natural materials like pebbles, leaves, or grass which will provide children endless possibilities for learning and fun.

The children will be using mud to paint with, and we even have a mud kitchen area where children can pretend to be chefs!

Eid-Al-Adha (New Year in Islam) 9 July – 13 July 2022

Children will be creating Eid cards to go home with families, and they’ll also be treats to go with it.

Eid-Al-Adha is Muslims big Eid. ‘The Festival of Sacrifice, and the Great Festival.’ Eid Mubarak to each and every one of our community members celebrating Eid-al-Adha.

Fun in the sun!

At King Athelstan we have been enjoying the lovely weather. We had a mini sports day for the children at their request as they were so excited for the school one. We have also been enjoying some water play to keep as cool, and as always they have been very busy with their arts and crafts. Pictured below are the children enjoying mufti day for the queens jubilee.

What a star!

At Handsworth ASC we have a star chart competition and we have our 3rd place winner. This is a great achievement, acknowledging her hard work and good behaviour over the year, before she moves school in September. Well done!
