Food Service Supervisor
YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) emerged from the coming together of four separate Associations over an 18-month period. The group is largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its 6+ Health and Wellbeing Centres, including an outdoor swimming pool and a wide range of Children, Youth and Family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres. Through the merger and accompanying new investment we expect the range, reach and impact of our services to grow so that we can better realise our vision.

This role is based at our YMCA in Walthamstow, reporting to the Catering Manager and responsible for the Front of House operations in the absence of the Catering Manager. The post holder will be responsible for serving meals for residents and the public for seven days a week, increasing sales, profitability, and work within budget, provision of the meals, vending service, hospitality orders and maintain high standard of catering and customer service at all times. The post holder will be required to attend team meetings, 121 meetings, annual appraisals and annual Team Day events.
The role includes:
- the day to day running of the Front of House operations
- providing high standard of customer service
- serving food
- till operations
- vending and general operations
- ensuring the health & safety of the Front of House is maintained at all times
- Have a recognised catering qualification eg. City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2
- Have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (or above)
- Have 2 years or more experience as a Catering Supervisor
- Have experience in providing a nutritionally balanced menu and an awareness of allergy and nutritional content of menu ingredients
