YMCA St Paul’s Group is saying farewell and thank you to Rt Revd Dr Richard Cheetham, Bishop of Kingston, after 20 years as President of our charity that supports and empowers young and vulnerable people across London.

During his farewell tour, Bishop Richard visited YMCA Wimbledon where he was welcomed by Richard James, Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Melville-Thomas, YMCA Chaplain and Karen HayHurst, Housing Support Manager. During this tour of YMCA Wimbledon Bishop Richard met with residents and members of staff, before having a preview of the brand-new Wimbledon development, which is due to open in 2023.

Commenting on his time as President, Bishop Richard said:

“It has been a joy to be the President of YMCA St Paul’s Group over the past 20 years. It’s been an honour to see the inspiring work that is happening day in, day out by an incredibly hard working team of staff and volunteers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their dedication to making a real difference in the lives of those they support and for being a beacon of hope for the local community.

“I look forward to seeing how YMCA St Paul’s Group continues to grow and flourish as an organisation, including the opening of the brand new YMCA Wimbledon in 2023.”
