YMCA Wimbledon is centrally located on The Broadway in the heart of Wimbledon. It offers short term supported accommodation for young vulnerable people in its hostel. Resident and community activities are provided by the Community Activities Team, which include employment workshops and creative activities such as drama, poetry and the written word. We aim to help people get back on their feet and living independent, fulfilling lives.

At YMCA St Paul’s Group, our vision is of ‘places where young people thrive and communities flourish’. We work with children, youth and families; provide opportunities for physical and mental wellbeing as well as training and education to support the mind, body and spirit.

For families, there is a soft play centre called Pod2 (the sister venue of The Pod soft play at YMCA Hawker in Kingston), with a changing programme of children’s activities for under 8s. It’s open 7 days a week and available for hire for private parties. It has a small café to provide snacks and hot drinks for parents to enjoy whilst watching their children at play.

For adults there is a Health and Wellbeing centre which features a state of the art gym, along with studios for group exercise classes. One room in the gym is dedicated to cardiovascular equipment and is air conditioned. The main hall is designed around a suite of resistance equipment and also features a box fit area, riptrainers and TRX.

YMCA was opened by the Queen Mother in 1974.  It is showing its age a little, and we have ambitious plans to redevelop the site – improving the facilities and services that we currently offer and providing an opportunity to reinvigorate South Wimbledon at the same time.

Read more about the centre and find out more about its plans for the future.
