Inset day trip – The Wonder Lab, Science Museum
We’re running an Inset day trip on 25 May which is open to other schools that also have that inset day.
8.30 – 9.30 Drop off for the children, games and then getting ready to go!
10.00 – 11.00 We will travel via train to The WonderLab at The Science Museum and have a small snack on the way.
11.00 – 4.00 The children will visit The WonderLab, With over 50 mind-blowing exhibits, shows and demonstrations to enjoy, Wonderlab is an experience unlike any other. Spread across seven different zones, there’s loads of opportunity to get hands on with real scientific phenomena. Order live experiments at our Chemistry Bar, see lightning strike before your eyes, play with forces on giant slides or travel through space under a canopy of stars. There is a picnic area in the museum where we will eat our lunch. We will also make a short trip to the gift shop.
4.30 – 6.00 We aim to be back at the YMCA by 5.00, once we are back we will let the children decide what games they want to play, if we have a disco or if they just want to chill out after all the fun of the day!
8.30am until 6.00pm
Cost: £35 per child
The Ofsted-registered YMCA Surbiton After School Club collects children collects children from two local schools Maple Infants and St Andrew’s & St Mark’s – and caters for 4 to 11 year olds. Convenient for Surbiton station and on several bus routes, it is a popular choice for busy working parents who commute into London.
Activities are planned within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) and include a mix of arts & crafts, imaginary play, cooking, board games and dance. In good weather, we go to the local park for physical play and sports such as football and hockey.
Fresh fruit is available all afternoon and at 4.30pm we serve a healthy snack in the YMCA cafe. All possible care is taken to ensure your child’s dietary requirements are met.
Our Playworkers are well-qualified, friendly and as most have been with YMCA for many years, there is continuity of care.
“I feel safe in the knowledge that my son is collected from school by the YMCA After School Club team, given a healthy snack and has a range of activities to choose from. If I ever arrive early to collect him, Lucas is disappointed that he has to leave. It means a lot to me that Lucas is safe and happy whilst I am at work.” – Andrea (Parent).
Read our Ofsted report here. We were awarded with a ‘Good’ rating: “Staff engage well with children. For example, they play games together and help older and younger children to take turns and share. Children are confident and motivated to play with the wide variety of activities provided.”
