Excursions, walks, meet-ups and more.

Walks

Our fortnightly walks start from YMCA White House, leaving promptly at 10am and returning mid-afternoon. They are free of charge and you will need to pay for your own expenses, such as transport and refreshments.

Richmond Park & Isabella Plantation     Thursday 12th April

A pleasant climb through part of Richmond Park before a stroll round the lush Arabella Plantation. We’ll then descend into the river valley to YMCA Hawker for lunch together. After lunch there’s a walk into Kingston through Canbury Gardens before catching the bus home.

Thames upstream from Hampton Court     Thursday 26th April

We take the 65 to Hampton Court. Then we have a gentle (and sometimes muddy) walk along the Thames upstream. We walk until lunchtime at the riverside pub,The Weir. And then, after lunch there’s a bit more walking to the road before we catch the the 461 to Hampton Court, and then the 111 home.

Around Bushy Park     Thursday 10th May

A pleasant walk to and around Bushy Park. We stop for a coffee at the Pheasantry cafe, then follow through the Woodland Gardens down to the Thames near The Bell. We then catch the 111 home. On our return to the White House you’re welcome to come into the cafe for a late lunch together.

Crane Valley     Thursday 31st May

A gentle walk through the Crane Valley Park towards Twickenham and back. We see the old shot tower and take a small detour into a nature reserve on an island in the River Crane. There’s a toilet and cafe stop half way before we return along the other bank of the river. The 111 bus takes you to the start, which is also the finish. On our return to the White House you’re welcome to come into the cafe for a late lunch together.

All Day Outing: Leatherhead to Dorking     Thursday 14th June

A lovely walk through the Surrey countryside. We take the River Mole Valley from Leatherhead to Dorking.
The walk is not much longer than our usual ones and quite flat. However you’ll need sturdy comfortable shoes. And you should bring a packed lunch.
The bus journey is about 1 ½ hours each way, so you should expect to be back at the White House between 4:30 and 6:00.

Dysart to Kingston along the Thames     Thursday 28th June

We take the 111, then the 65 to The Dysart, and join the Thames Path near Richmond. We walk upstream past Marble Hill House, Ham House, Eel Pie Island and Teddington Lock to YMCA Hawker where we stop for lunch. Then there’s a gentle stroll into Kingston to catch the 111 home.

Twickenham to Richmond and back     Thursday 12th July

A level walk along the Thames from Twickenham to Richmond with views of Richmond Hill and the Star & Garter. Then a stop for coffee under Richmond Bridge, and back along the other bank and over the ferry to where we started. We’ll use the R70 for both journeys, and drop into the White House for lunch after.

Hampton Court to Kingston and back     Thursday 26th July

A pleasant walk from Hampton Court to Kingston and back. On the way, we stroll upstream along the river, and come back through Home Park. There’s a toilet and cafe stop half way in Kingston. The 111 bus takes you to the start, which is also the finish. On our return to the White House you’re welcome to come into the cafe for a late lunch together.

Senior Social Membership

For seniors, a Senior Social Membership costs £25 a year and as well as the fitness class discount, offers a 15% discount on community trips and activities and on food and drink in the cafe (excluding pre-packaged items).

Inclusive Lives

We’re developing a sensory garden with Blossoming Y. The group meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month for a gardening club. It’s an inclusive class for everyone whatever physical of mental abilities they have.
