YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) emerged from the coming together of four separate Associations over an 18-month period. The group is largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 residents each night.

The HR Department provides services for over 750 staff and 200 volunteers.  We are involved in all areas of HR work – supporting line managers in recruiting and inducting workers, learning and development, payroll, queries and problem handling through to disciplinary, performance management and redundancies.

The role

This role is based at our offices in Surbiton, reporting to the Human Resources Shared Services Manager. The post holder will be expected to assist in the provision of a comprehensive HR service for the Association involving administration of: Recruitment, Human Resources, Disclosure and Barring Service Checks and other support duties to the team as required in order to enable the smooth running of the HR function.

Applicants should:

  • Have knowledge of HR/Personnel issues including employment legislation
  • Understand equal opportunities and diversity issues
  • Have knowledge of DBS Checks
  • Be aware of issues around confidentiality of information and GDPR
  • Have experience of working in an HR or administrative function
  • Have experience of maintaining a personnel database (especially HR data eg. sickness absence, holiday recording etc)
  • Have experience of providing support and advice to colleagues
  • Have experience of recruitment processes
