Contract: One Permanent (3pm to 6:15pm) and Maternity Cover (3pm to 6:15pm); Term time only Monday to Friday
Salary: £8.21 – £8.57 depending on experience

About the Organisation

YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) emerged from the coming together of four separate Associations over an 18-month period. The group is largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 residents each night.

About the role

This role is based at our South West sites including Chessington, Surbiton & Kingston and reports to the Afterschool Coordinator. The post holder will be part of the Children, Youth & Families Department providing a programme of breakfast and afterschool activities and care for children. This will include providing a safe and stimulating environment for the children through a range of appropriate activities, ensuring that they are age appropriate.

Applicants should have:

  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Knowledge of child development and key stages
  • Basic health and safety knowledge
  • Experience of working with 4-11 year olds
  • Experience of working in a team
  • The ability to participate in a variety of play activities
  • Written skills to maintain children’s records, produce reports, etc

It is desirable but not essential to have an NVQ 2 Qualification/CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Playwork, Childcare and Education or Equivalent; to hold a current First Aid certificate; and to have experience of working with children with additional needs.
