Contract: Permanent; part-time – 24 hours per week, evening and weekend work will be required including some residential activities
Salary: £15,000 per annum
YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) emerged from the coming together of four separate Associations over an 18-month period. The group is largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 residents each night.
The vision of the Association is of ‘Places where young people thrive and communities flourish’. Its mission is to be ‘an inclusive Christian Association transforming communities so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive’.
This role is based at our YMCA site in Surbiton, reporting to the Chaplaincy Strategic Lead. The postholder will be expected to provide residents, members of the public and visitors, of all our services with opportunities to seek confidential pastoral and spiritual support and to explore the Christian faith and spirituality. This will include Providing additional pastoral support to people living in our hostels working with the Housing and Community Activity team. The postholder will also be responsible for Organise prayer gatherings weekly at the Surbiton site.
Applicants should have:
- Experience of leadership in a faith setting
- Knowledge and understanding of chaplaincy work
- A passion for working with people and in providing creative ways of exploring the Christian faith.
It is beneficial but not essential for applicants to be educated to degree level with a recognised qualification in theology or a related degree; and/or to have counselling training or qualification.
