Location: YMCA Surbiton
Contract: Fixed-Term (6 months) with possibility to become permanent, Part-Time; 15 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, 5.00pm to 8.00pm
Salary: £8.21 per hour
Condition: This is recruited under Section 7(2)(b) of the Sex Discrimination Act in that the postholder’s work will include the women’s changing room, where women are in a state of undress, and so a female worker is required to preserve decency/privacy.
YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) emerged from the coming together of four separate Associations over an 18-month period. The group is largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 residents each night.

This role is based at YMCA St Paul’s Group in Surbiton, reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor. The postholder will be expected to provide a high quality cleaning service, mostly within the Health & Wellbeing (Gym) area, including the female changing room. This will include keeping areas tidy and safe. The postholder will also be responsible for creating a pleasant environment for users/visitors.
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge of health & safety issues.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and their appropriate uses.
- Ability to prioritise own work within agreed schedules; use own initiative and display common sense
It is beneficial but not essential for applicants to have completed an NVQ in cleaning and to have previous employment experience of cleaning within a commercial setting.
