Location: YMCA Wimbledon, although may be required to work at any YMCA SPG location.

Contract: Fixed-Term (6 months secondment); 40 hours per week, generally worked within office hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work.

Salary: £28,000 per annum

YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) emerged from the coming together of four separate Associations over an 18-month period. The group is largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for over 1,200 residents each night.

The role

This role is based at YMCA St Paul’s Group in Wimbledon, reporting to the Area Housing Manager and responsible for Housing Officers, Support Brokers, Benefits Adviser and any other roles which may be identified within Housing and Support. The postholder will be expected to provide leadership and management to the Housing Support team who are delivering a supported and housing management service to residents living in the main hostels. This will include managing the hostel occupancy and voids, leading on all referrals and the induction of new residents, acting as the link for partner agencies. The postholder will also be responsible for all housing income ensuring it is received accurately and timely.

Applicants should have:

  • Experience of dealing with housing benefit claims and other social security benefits.
  • Knowledge of the problems facing homeless people and homelessness issues.
  • The ability to produce reports and work analytically.
  • Line Management experience.

It is beneficial but not essential for applicants to have knowledge of excellent customer care delivery, meeting standards outlined in contracts and experience of handling housing benefit appeals.
