Nursery Assistant (Unqualified)

The Association is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres.

The role

This role is based at our YMCA in South Ealing, reporting to the Nursery Manager. The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with the Nursery Manager, parent/carers and children to provide a consistently high quality programme at the YMCA West London’s nursery; to value each child as an individual, to encourage their all-round development and positive self-image.

Duties include working in partnership with parents/carers in an inclusive, enabling environment; assisting in delivering a stimulating programme of activities whilst maintain a caring and nurturing atmosphere for children aged 6 months to 5 years; producing development plans based on your observations; writing reports; keeping up to date profiles on key children; working within a team; adhering to Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and the EYFS 2017.

Applicants should:

Have knowledge of the needs of children in a nursery setting
• Have knowledge of the safety/welfare issues in a nursery setting
• Have knowledge of administration procedures in child care

• Experience of working with 6 months – 5 years’ age range
