The Association is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres.
This role is based at our YMCA in South Ealing, reporting to the Nursery Manager. The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with the Nurseries Manager, parent/carers and children to provide a consistently high quality programme at the YMCA West London’s nurseries as well as to value each child as an individual, to encourage their all-round development and positive self image.
Duties include working in partnership with parents/carers in an inclusive, enabling environment; assisting in delivering a stimulating programme of activities whilst maintain a caring and nurturing atmosphere for children aged 6 months to 2 years; producing development plans based on your observations; writing reports; keeping up to date profiles on key children; working within a team; adhering to Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018.
Applicants should have a knowledge of child care and child development; a knowledge of the needs of children in a nursery setting; a knowledge of the safety/welfare issues in a nursery setting; a knowledge of the Early Learning Goals; experience of child care either in a formal or informal setting; experience of planning a programme of activities for 5-11 years age range; experience of working with 6 months – 5 years age range; hold a childcare qualification recognized by OFSTED eg. NNEB PLA, NVQ L2/3
