The Association is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres.

The Role

This role is based at our YMCA in Wimbledon, reporting to the Area Housing Manager and responsible for Housing officers, Support Brokers, Benefits Advice Worker and Housing Administrator. The post holder will be expected to provide leadership and management to the Housing Support team and be responsible for all Housing income, whilst ensuring a high quality support service is delivered to the residents.

Ideally, we are looking for a person with at least two years of previous experience in a similar role and who will bring energy, passion and commitment to this position. An understanding of the social housing/charity sector would be very advantageous.

Some duties include:

  • Leading on recruitment and induction of the Housing Support team
  • Providing line management and coaching to the staff team
  • Ensuring the smooth running of all housing accommodation
  • Hold the Resident Discretionary fund to issue emergency loans
  • Ensure all YMCA SPG policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation (GDPR, Health and Safety) 

Applicants should possess two years of experience of working in a similar, management role at a similar level of responsibility; possess good communication and relationship management skills; have experience of dealing with vulnerable groups and security issues associated with a residential setting; have experience of dealing with emergencies; have experience of dealing with Housing Benefit claims; have knowledge of the Welfare and Benefits system.
