The Association is the largest YMCA in Europe and one of the largest providers of supported housing in London and beyond providing a safe place to stay for around 1,200 residents each night. As well as accommodation, care homes, education and training, the Association is focused on the transformation of communities through its Health and Wellbeing Centres, children, youth and family programmes including nurseries, after school clubs and soft play centres.

The role

This role is based within our Housing Team at our 45 bed residential centre in Chalvey, Slough reporting to the Housing Support Manager. The post holder will be expected to support residents as they move from dependent to independent living. Our residents include single homeless young men and women, and their dependent children.

Ideally, we are looking for a person with previous experience in a similar role and who will bring energy, passion and commitment to this position. An understanding of the social housing/charity sector would be advantageous.

Duties include covering reception to maintain the security of the site at the weekend; ensure residents and visitors adhere to standards of behaviour; ensure that the communication, visitors book, accident reporting and incident records are maintained overnight; direct calls and communicated relevant information to residents as well as carry out administration and be accountable for cash handling. Monitor movement of residents in and out of the building.

Applicants should be prepared to work weekends on a shift rota basis. Lone working is required. Applicants should possess some experience of working in a similar role at a similar level of responsibility; possess good communication and relationship management skills; have experience of dealing with vulnerable groups and security issues associated with a residential setting and working with emergency services.
