YMCA St Paul’s Group (YMCA SPG) has recognised the dedication of its staff in the communities it serves around London, with staff awards at its Annual Showcase. Held at Central Hall Westminster on Monday 25 November, it was a glittering event to celebrate the work of YMCA.
Winners in the Awards categories included Jumpers! Nursery in South Ealing (Outstanding Family Service), YMCA Surbiton (Outstanding Health & Wellbeing Centre), Youth Programmes & Volunteering Officer George Bergin at YMCA Hayes (Outstanding Children’s/Youth Worker) and the Community Activities Team at YMCA
Wimbledon & Surbiton (Outstanding Housing Team).
In communities across Greater London, YMCA SPG staff provide services for families (nurseries, playschemes and afterschool clubs), young people (youth clubs and sports clubs) and those facing homelessness (short-stay supported accommodation). There was also a special award for the Unsung Hero, who had shown exceptional commitment to their role, and this was awarded to John David, Housing Manager at YMCA Ealing Common & Uxbridge. VIP presenters of the Awards came from Charity Bank, Trowers & Hamlin Solicitors, YMCA England & Wales, as well as YMCA SPG’s President Bishop Pete Broadbent.
YMCA St Paul’s Group CEO, Richard James said: “One of my greatest honours is to be able to go from site to site to meet YMCA staff who do amazing work. Every week I come back with a long list of wonderful people working hard to see the YMCA mission and vision realised. Our staff awards are a great opportunity to recognise achievement and commitment.”
