Our Young Carers residential trip to West Wales saw 10 youngsters have a fantastic holiday and well-deserved break.

Led by three of our Children’s Work team, the group enjoyed lots of wonderful activities from watching sunsets with a camp fire on the beach, crabbing in rock pools, surfing, visiting waterfalls and coasteering (rock hopping and swimming along the coastline). One of the participants was adamant that he wasn’t going to get involved in the coasteering; he refused to wear his helmet and was demanding to go back. With the support of his friends, and staff, this young boy, who was scared of water and rocks, left the sessions knowing how to swim and managed to jump into the sea – fantastic! They also had a trip to nearby St David’s where they enjoyed traditional fish and chips, followed by ice cream. Here’s what the children said: “I felt in awe of the beauty of the space and people around us. Everything is so different from back home.”  “Super sick – like everything was so good apart from the long bus journey but we got to make friends in that time which is good!”
