YMCA St Paul’s Group Nominees Announced as Finalists at Youth Matters Awards 2021
YMCA St Paul’s Group is celebrating after four semi-finalists have been announced as finalists in the highly anticipated return of YMCA’s Youth Matters Awards, which will take place in November 2021.
All four finalists have triumphed over strong competition from other YMCAs across England and Wales.
Aisha Adan, Nursery Practitioner at Jumpers! Day Nursery, YMCA St Paul’s Group, is a finalist for the Young Worker of the Year award. This award recognises a young worker for their outstanding commitment to building a brighter future for young people and for going the extra mile to make a real difference in their lives.
Martin Bushaway, official volunteer with the YMCA St Paul’s Group Community Activities Team, is a finalist for the Young Volunteer of the Year award. This award recognises a dedicated young volunteer who has shown outstanding commitment to YMCA and contributed energy, skills and time.
YMCA SPG’s Merton Emergency Winter Accommodation (MEWA) is a finalists for the Accommodation Project of the Year award. This award recognises YMCAs that have delivered innovative and inspiring projects that have had a tangible and positive impact on young people and/or the wider community.
YMCA SPG’s Chaplaincy Team is a finalist for the Covid Community Impact Award. This award recognises a YMCA that has delivered a project or initiative outside of the scope of their normal offer, serving the community’s needs during COVID.

YMCA’s Youth Matters Awards 2021 will be held at the exclusive Sheraton Grand Hotel in London’s Park Lane on Friday 5 November, and hosted by acclaimed comedian and expert quizzer of ITV’s The Chase, Paul Sinha.
Youth Matters is YMCA’s national awards programme marking an integral part of the charity’s calendar since 2009, and was sorely missed last year due to COVID-19. It celebrates the outstanding skills and achievements of young people from across the country and also recognises the vital work that YMCAs deliver every day. After an incredibly challenging time, this year’s awards are even more vital in recognising the innovation and resilience shown by YMCAs in the continued and unwavering support shown for their communities.
