Location: West London (mainly Hillingdon and Ealing Borough)

Salary: £10 per hour

Contract: Fixed term, Part Time (19.5 hours per week, 4pm-9pm with occasional earlier shifts)

YMCA West London’s mission is developing opportunities that transform young lives. The primary purpose of YMCA West London is to provide high quality, holistic support and temporary housing accommodation with associated facilities for young vulnerable people to develop their personal and social skills sufficient for them to live independently from the YMCA in a sustainable way.

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and motivated Youth Worker for our West London reporting to the Youth Programmes Officer and will be partially responsible for the Volunteers.

The post holder will be expected to deliver Youth Work services on and off site clubs to people aged 5 to 25 years. The post holder will also be expected to work alongside and lead a team of volunteers whilst delivering a programme of Youth Work sessions, outreach groups and informal education sessions to young people who access the centre/on and off site clubs.

Applicants should have:

  • Professional qualification in Youth Work/Community Work (Level 2)
  • Two years’ experience of working with young people
  • Experience of planning a programme of activities
  • Experience of communication with young people through a variety of media, and in a variety of settings
  • Knowledge of Youth Work and young people’s development needs
  • An understanding of the problems socially excluded young people encounter
  • Knowledge of the types of statutory and non-statutory bodies who can assist defined user group
  • Knowledge of safety/welfare issues in Youth Work
  • Knowledge of a range of monitoring and evaluation techniques
