Welcome to the January issue of our monthly online newsletter for children and families, produced by the Children and Family Work team at YMCA St. Paul’s Group.
We strive to create positive outcomes with children and young people in their communities, and provide support for families with nursery, day care, holiday and year-round programmes.
Take a look at the sections below to learn about what we will be up to across our various children and families services in January.

Christmas Nativity
Our Jumpers nursery children performed a wonderful version of the Christmas Nativity.
The audience at the Ealing green church were treated to some brilliant Christmas songs. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and did a great job!
Pod Soft Play Outing
The children from the Bumble bee and Butterflies group had a brilliant visit to the YMCA Hawker Centre in Kingston, where they enjoyed a session in the Pod Soft Play.
They travelled from South Ealing on the Bus – quite an adventure!
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is celebrated on 22 January, and 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. The Rabbit is the fourth of all Zodiac animals.
Chinese New Year is a time when families gather to exchange gifts, wear new clothes and hope for good health and prosperity in the year ahead.
Children often receive money in a small red and gold envelope.

Looking to book a children’s birthday party? Our kids parties at YMCA South Ealing, including party host and food and drink, are ideal for under eights. Party bookings are available on Saturdays.
The children will spend the first hour in the studio on the soft play equipment, and the second hour will be for food and party games in Y Lounge café.
A dedicated party host is there to keep the kids entertained and to set up and clear away afterwards, meaning you can just relax and enjoy the party!

World Cup Frenzy
The children at Handsworth Breakfast and After School Club participated in a sweepstake during the world cup. They followed every match, and ended up with two overall winners who received their very own world cup trophy!

Craft Connections
Handsworth children have started their connection with local care homes in the area and their first topic was around friendship. They drew self portraits and made friendship bracelets. These were posted off and we await our correspondence from our elderly residents.

YMCA Hampton Preschool Christmas postal service
The children posted their Christmas cards in the post box and distributed them.
