FAQs for Reformer Pilates

The reformer is a specialised piece of Pilates equipment designed to enhance your Pilates practice. It consists of a carriage that slides back and forth on rails, equipped with various springs and straps to provide resistance and support for a wide range of exercises.

No prior Pilates experience is required to join our reformer studio, however we do recommend you start with our introduction to reformer 121 which is a 60 min 121 sessions with an experienced instructor to show you around the reformer and teach you some of the essential technique and basic exercises. Once you have completed this, our classes are designed to accommodate individuals of all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our knowledgeable instructors will guide you through the exercises and provide modifications as needed.

Our reformer classes typically last for 45 minutes to an hour. This duration allows for a comprehensive workout that targets different muscle groups while maintaining an optimal pace.

We recommend wearing comfortable, form-fitting exercise attire that allows for a full range of motion. Avoid loose or baggy clothing that may get caught in the equipment. Socks with grips are required for hygiene and safety reasons.

To ensure personalised attention and a high-quality experience, our reformer classes have limited spots. Typically, our classes accommodate up to 10 participants, allowing the instructor to give proper guidance and corrections to each individual.

Advance booking is essential. This helps us manage class sizes and ensures you have a spot reserved. Our online booking system allows you to easily schedule your preferred class time and we have a variety of packages available.

Reformer workouts offer numerous benefits, including improved core strength, flexibility, posture, and overall body toning. They can also help alleviate back pain, enhance body awareness, and increase muscle endurance. They are a great tool for rehabilitation following injury or illness as the springs can be really assistive. The resistance provided by the springs will also challenge your muscles in a balanced and controlled manner.

If you have any existing injuries or health conditions, it’s essential to consult with your healthcare provider before starting a reformer class or 121 session. We have experienced instructors who can formulate an exercise plan with you during 121 sessions. In some cases, modifications can be made to accommodate your needs in a group class. Our instructors are trained to provide appropriate modifications, but professional medical advice should be sought when necessary.

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel your reformer class, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee. This policy ensures fairness to other clients who may be on the waitlist.

Yes, we offer various packages to suit your needs and preferences. These options can provide cost savings and additional benefits. Our friendly Health and Wellbeing team can guide you in choosing the best package or membership based on your goals and commitment level.

Yes, we offer private reformer sessions for those seeking personalised attention, specific goal targeting, or injury rehabilitation. Private sessions allow you to work one-on-one with our instructors and tailor the workout to your individual needs.

During your first reformer class, our instructor will guide you through the basics of using the reformer and teach you fundamental exercises. They will explain how to adjust the equipment and provide modifications based on your abilities. It’s normal to feel a bit unfamiliar at first, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it!

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our studios directly. We are here to support you on your fitness journey and provide you with an enjoyable and effective reformer experience.
