Now what is it about sprouts!?
Each year at Christmas they get a bad press – but each year thousands of sprouts are eaten!
People say they don’t like them, they’re too soggy, they haven’t been cooked properly, they’re boring – but maybe that’s precisely it.
Sprouts can be boring and over-cooked, just like the Christmas story.
But… they don’t have to be.
We often try to figure it all out too quickly, and it becomes a mess!
We end up not wanting to know any more than that the baby Jesus was born 2000 years ago in a stable; when in fact this baby came with faith, angels, and a message that he was AND is the Messiah!
He came for you and I to know God’s eternal and unconditional love for each of us.
As for sprouts…..fry on a high heat for crispiness along with garlic and parmesan cheese and they’ll be delicious, which is how I like my God and my church to be…..delicious!!
‘Come, taste and see that the Lord is good’ (Psalm 34:8)
A Christmas Blessing
Let us welcome God’s bright and shinning morning star
A child
Born in a manger
A son
Sent to redeem the World
A Saviour
Come to renew all things
May his light shine on you
May his light shine in you
May his light shine through you
The light of God’s Christmas Star be with you in this season of new birth
Amen
