northolt cup st josephs - Empowering young people through sports

5 October 2022

Over two Friday evenings in September, the YMCA St Paul’s Group Youth Team organised and ran two 8-a-side football tournaments for young people, hosted at Northolt Rectory Park.

The Northolt Cup saw eight teams of young players coming together for one of our most popular community football tournaments to date.

In what proved to be two extremely competitive tournaments, the 12–15-year-olds competition was won by St Joseph’s U15s (pictured above), whilst the Northolt Warriors lifted the winners’ cup in the 16-21 age group.

There were also cups and medals awarded for 2nd place, 3rd place, player of the tournament, top scorer of the tournament, and goalkeeper of the tournament.

The tournament was made possible thanks to funding from London Youth. Our two peer leaders received training from London Youth on how to plan and deliver this event designed to engage young people.

YMCA St Paul’s Group is a charity supporting and empowering young and vulnerable people across London. The vision of YMCA St Paul’s Group is to create places where young people thrive and communities flourish. We believe that all young people deserve the best possible start in life, to be inspired, and to reach their full potential. In delivering our youth services, we aim to achieve this by providing a range of activities, opportunities, and support for young people.

We would like to congratulate all the young people who took part and thank them for a great tournament – see you at the next one!
