We were delighted to host a team of fantastic volunteers from Metro Bank, Wimbledon, at YMCA Hawker earlier this month. The team of volunteers got their hands dirty tidying up our community garden areas and even brought along their own tools to help with the expense of the project. Metro Bank contacted YMCA St Paul’s Group to ask if they could do something as a team to support their local community, and we could not be more grateful that they did!
After a tour of the site with our Head of Health and Wellbeing, the team got going cutting down weeds and tidying up the overgrown area of our garden which had overgrown the YMCA Hawker sign. After a team lunch, provided on site by our fantastic catering team in our Riverside Café, the team set their sights on the front of our building; pruning the roses and planters, and tidying up our hedges in front of our gym area. The team also spent time ensuring our young people can spend time at the Basketball Court, trimming back nettles and weeds and creating more space around the seating area. We’re so grateful to each and every Metro Bank volunteer who came along on the day – YMCA Hawker is much brighter and tidier for all of their hard work.

It was a great day for the team to spend time giving back to our local community. The YMCA St Pauls Group is a widely recognised charity that carries out important work, supporting the transformation of people’s lives, so we wanted to contribute in any way we could. We are very grateful for the opportunity to help, thank you YMCA!
