About YMCA St Paul’s Group:

YMCA St Paul’s Group is a charity that aims to support and empower young people and communities throughout London by providing life-changing youth work, essential community services, inclusive health and wellbeing centres, and supported accommodation for those at risk of homelessness. The organisation aims to create thriving places for young people and flourishing communities. With a commitment to long-term transformation in mind, body, and spirit, YMCA St Paul’s Group has served the community for over 150 years.

About the role:

Join our dynamic and dedicated team as a Lifeguard at the vibrant Hampton Pool, part of the YMCA St Paul’s Group. In this vital role, you will contribute significantly to ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and high-quality service our customers expect. Your responsibilities will extend beyond the poolside, including a variety of tasks to support the smooth operation and development of our pool facilities. As a flexible bank staff member, your working hours will be varied, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, offering an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Guardian of Safety: Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety of pool users. You will vigilantly monitor activities, perform routine pool tests, and swiftly respond to any safety concerns, always prioritising our users’ wellbeing.

Champion of Cleanliness: Maintaining the pristine condition of our facilities is crucial. Your role will involve ensuring the cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas, contributing to a pleasant and hygienic environment for all.

Team Collaboration: As part of our dedicated team, you will undertake 40, 60, or possibly 90-minute rotations on the poolside, working with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of service and safety.

Operational Excellence: You will assist in upholding the operational standards outlined in the Pool’s Operations Manual. Your role will involve adhering to various health and safety requirements, including manual handling and fire safety protocols, and performing weekly stock checks of cleaning supplies.

Environmental Stewardship: Play an active role in implementing the Pool’s Environmental Policy, contributing to our commitment to sustainability and responsible practices.

Customer Service: Assist in delivering and promoting a range of swimming and dry-side activities, focusing on increasing revenue during quieter periods. Engage in customer relations, including conducting surveys and gathering feedback to enhance our services.

Community Engagement: You will act as an ambassador for Hampton Pool, fostering a welcoming atmosphere and participating in community activities to support and promote our facilities. Your role will also involve developing relationships with the Friends of Hampton Pool and exploring ways to effectively use their support.

Join our team at Hampton Pool as a Lifeguard and help ensure a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for our community. Your role will offer varied responsibilities, a chance to develop valuable skills, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our pool users and the wider community. Your commitment to excellence will be critical to our continued success and the satisfaction of everyone we serve.

At YMCA St. Paul’s Group, we prioritise improving diversity and inclusion in the workplace and the services we provide.
