Proposed New 3G Pitch at YMCA Hawker

Our Community Consultation Has Now Closed

Thank you for taking the time to participate in the consultation on the proposed 3G football pitch at YMCA Hawker Centre.

Whether you completed the online survey, attended one of our consultation events, emailed your views, or spoke with members of the project team, we would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to contribute. To date, we have received over 400 consultation responses, providing valuable feedback from local residents, Hawker Centre users and the wider community.

As the pre-planning submission consultation period came to a close on Sunday 5th July at midnight, we wanted to explain what happens next.

What happens after the planning application is submitted?

Following the consultation, all feedback received will be reviewed alongside the technical studies and supporting information before the planning application is finalised and submitted to the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Once submitted, the planning process is managed independently by the Council. While YMCA Hawker Centre will continue to provide updates where appropriate, the timetable and decision-making process are the responsibility of the Local Planning Authority.

  1. Validation (up to two weeks)

The Council will check that the application includes all the required plans, reports and supporting documents. Once validated, the application will receive a planning reference number and be published on the Council’s Planning Portal.

  1. Public Consultation (minimum 21 days)

The Council will carry out its own statutory consultation, notifying neighbouring properties and publicising the application. During this period, anyone will be able to view the application documents and submit comments directly to the Council.

  1. Assessment and Determination

Following validation, the statutory determination period is typically:

During this time, planning officers will assess the application against national and local planning policy, the supporting technical evidence, and all comments received during the statutory consultation before making a recommendation or decision.

  1. Decision

Once a decision has been made, it will be published by the Council. If planning permission is granted, any planning conditions will be set out within the decision notice. If permission is refused, there is a statutory right of appeal through the Planning Inspectorate.

We would like to thank everyone once again for taking part in the consultation. Your feedback has been an important part of the process and will accompany the planning application as it moves into the formal planning stage.
