Mental Health Awareness Week: Let’s Talk, Listen and Support
This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is “Community” — a reminder of how crucial it is to build strong, supportive networks where people feel safe, connected, and understood. At YMCA St Paul’s Group, we believe mental wellbeing is a community responsibility, and we’re proud to offer services that help people access the support they need when they need it most.
Our counselling sessions offer a confidential, non-judgemental space for individuals to speak openly about what they’re experiencing — whether it’s anxiety, grief, past trauma, or the general stresses of life.
As Craig, one of our volunteer counsellors shares:
“One of the most powerful aspects of counselling is sitting with someone as they open up — sometimes for the first time. That moment of trust, when someone shares their pain and their story, is incredibly meaningful. It reminds us that we’re all human, and we all carry things others may never see.”
Each session is a step toward healing, clarity, and connection — and can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Whether you’re going through something difficult right now or simply need a space to reflect, talking to a trained counsellor can be a vital first step.
Let’s break the stigma. Let’s support each other. And let’s make mental wellbeing a priority — this week and every week.
