Location: YMCA Wimbledon
Contract: 36 hours per week on shift rota (Monday- Sunday)
Salary: £8.73 per hour

The role

This role is based at our YMCA in Wimbledon, reporting to the Chef Manager. The post holder will be expected to assist in all aspects of the running of the Café and functions at YMCA Wimbledon. You will be part of a larger Catering Department which falls under the YMCA Health and Wellbeing brand and is quite unique delivering a number of catering services; which includes daily meals for the residents that live in its hostels, cafés open to the public, as well as catering for functions; meetings and conferences held at its other YMCA sites. We also cater for three free schools.

Ideally, we are looking for a person with previous experience in a similar role and who will bring energy, passion and commitment to this position.

The right candidate will:
• Have knowledge of health and safety issues
• Have knowledge of special diets and food allergies
• Have knowledge of calculating cash transactions and handling cash quickly and accurately
• Have experience of working in a customer facing role
• Have experience of stock rotation
• Have experience of food preparation and presentation

• Hold a current food hygiene certificate or obtain one within one month of starting
• Have experience of food preparation and presentation

Duties include: preparing and cooking simple but wholesome food and serve drinks to a high standard; maximising income and customer satisfaction; keeping all catering areas clean and well stocked; working alone and with others

Applicants should be prepared to work day shifts on a shift rota basis covering all the days of the week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
