Join our Balanced Body® accredited Pilates Teacher Training Programme

Build your skills & learn how to use the Pilates repertoire in Reformer classes to attract and retain clients! YMCA Pilates have partnered with Balanced Body Education® to bring you this innovative curriculum. Based on movement science and the Pilates method, with strong emphasis on quality of movement, proper breathing technique and the connection of mind and body in motion. You will emerge with the skills to create fun, safe and effective Pilates Reformer programming for all fitness levels!

Movement Principles and Pilates Essentials – Weds 4th & Thurs 5th March from 9.30am – 5.30pm.
Mat 1 – Wed 1st & Thurs 2nd April from 9.30am – 5.30pm.
Mat 2 – Wed 29th and Thurs 30th April from 9.30am – 5.30pm.
Mat 3 – Tues 19th and Thurs 21st May from 9.30am – 5.30pm.

Courses

You’ll spend 5 days in hands-on in-person workshops, learning key Pilates exercises and honing your teaching skills. You’ll also have access to the Balanced Body Education Platform for extra learning at your own pace from home.

Movement Principles and Pilates Essentials – Introduces the essential building blocks or pre-Pilates skills of the Pilates methodology. Students gain awareness of their own movement patterns and biases and learn how to train movement to optimise the body in motion. This course is a prerequisite for Balanced Body Mat or Reformer teacher training.
Mat 1 – Beginning to intermediate exercises: learn history, principles, modifications, and class design for seniors and pre/post-natal clients.
Mat 2 – Intermediate to advanced repertoire: master programming, progressions, and class delivery.
Mat 3 – Enhanced Mat & Props: elevate your teaching using rings, bands, rollers, balls, and the Balanced Body Programming system
Each module costs £495. 
There may be additional costs for the course manuals and the final test out.
To become a fully qualified Balanced Body Mat Instructor, students must complete the following:
  • Anatomy in Three Dimensions™ (Strongly Recommended) or alternative
  • Balanced Body Movement Principles (16 hours)
  • Balanced Body Mat 1 – Course work and module test (16 hours)
  • Balanced Body Mat 2 – Course work and module test (16 hours)
  • Balanced Body Mat 3 – Course work and module test (16 hours)
  • 20 Mat personal sessions, 15 observation hours and 35 student teaching hours.
  • Final written and practical test.
  • Total hours for completion of Mat program: 134 hours.
  • Upon fulfillment of all Balanced Body Mat Instructor requirements, students will receive a certificate of completion.

Meet your Educator – Zoe Watson

Zoe is a passionate and experienced Pilates professional with over 20 years of expertise in the movement and wellness industry. She is dedicated to helping individuals of all fitness levels build strength, balance, and flexibility through mindful movement.

Zoe is Fully Comprehensively Trained by Alan Herdman, a pioneer in Pilates education, and holds Level 3 Awards in Education and Training and Assessing Vocational Achievement, highlighting her strong foundation in both teaching and evaluating learners.

As a Pilates Teacher, Zoe combines a deep understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and movement science to create safe, effective, and innovative Pilates programs. Her approach blends traditional Pilates techniques with modern methodologies, ensuring a personalised experience that addresses the unique needs of each client.

As a Balanced Body Educator, Zoe delivers Pilates Mat training and Group Reformer Education for Fitness Professionals. She is passionate about building strong foundations in Pilates instruction and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Zoe is committed to guiding both new students and experienced instructors in developing the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their Pilates careers.

Known for her warm, approachable teaching style, Zoe believes that Pilates is for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Her classes emphasise mindful movement, alignment awareness, and a deep connection between body and mind, empowering clients to move with confidence and ease.
