YMCA St Paul’s Group Responds to Regulator of Social Housing Consultation

YMCA St Paul’s Group has submitted its response to the Regulator of Social Housing’s consultation on proposed changes to consumer standards, including transparency, accountability, tenant influence and the introduction of a new Tenant Satisfaction Measure for electrical safety.

As one of London’s largest providers of supported housing for young people and vulnerable residents, YMCA St Paul’s Group welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the consultation. Our response strongly supports the principles of greater openness, clearer performance information and strengthened accountability across the sector.

We emphasised the importance of balancing transparency with the need to protect residents’ personal data, particularly in supported housing where sensitive information is common. We also encouraged the Regulator to ensure guidance is clear, practical and consistent across the sector.

The consultation also included proposals to introduce a new Tenant Satisfaction Measure on electrical safety checks. YMCA St Paul’s Group agreed with the aims of the measure while highlighting the importance of ensuring that any follow-up safety work is completed promptly to fully protect residents.

Our Commitment to those who call the YMCA their home

YMCA SPG continues to place residents at the heart of decision-making. We remain committed to creating safe, supportive and empowering environments, ensuring young and vulnerable people who live with us have the best possible foundation for independence, wellbeing and long-term success.

Chief Executive of YMCA St Paul’s Group, Richard James, commented:

“Our residents deserve safe, high-quality homes and a voice in shaping the services they rely on. We fully support stronger expectations around transparency and accountability, as these are essential to building trust and delivering the best possible environment for young people across our communities. We look forward to working with revised standards to ensure they lead to meaningful improvements for the people we serve.”
