YMCA Wimbledon 150th Anniversary Event Rounds-up

YMCA St Paul’s Group recently celebrated the 150th anniversary of YMCA Wimbledon in October 2024, a milestone that honours our enduring commitment to creating inclusive, active, and healthy communities where everyone can flourish.  

With the theme of ‘Celebrate Wimbledon 150 years and join our future’, this celebration not only highlighted our legacy but also reaffirmed our values of being loving, hopeful, and community-focused, with a holistic approach that places each person at the centre of our work.  

The celebration offered a range of engaging activities and special initiatives, inviting everyone to take part in YMCA Wimbledon’s 150th anniversary through meaningful and memorable experiences.  

Among the highlights was the Home, Hope, Heart Arts & Historical Exhibition, held from 10-12 October at YMCA Wimbledon. This exhibition offered visitors a window into YMCA Wimbledon’s rich history and legacy, capturing moments that reflect its journey and values; and showcasing our young people’ talents by different forms of arts.  

The celebration featured heartfelt testimonies from long-standing members, staff members, volunteers and residents who shared stories of how YMCA Wimbledon has positively impacted their lives and provided a place of personal growth, and empowerment. 

Other celebration activities included tips on how to incorporate 150 minutes of fitness activity into your week; special offer for 150 days of membership and online quiz to test YMCA Wimbledon knowledge. 

This 150th anniversary celebration not only looked back at YMCA Wimbledon’s impressive legacy but also looked forward, reaffirming a vision for the future committed to nurturing individuals and strengthening community bonds.
