Children and Families Newsletter: March

Children and Families Newsletter: March

Welcome to the March issue of our monthly online newsletter for children and families, produced by the Children and Family Work team at YMCA St. Paul’s Group.

We help whole families to flourish. We have safe and trusted Early Years care and developmental activities, family support and mediation help when difficult issues arise at home or school, summer and school holiday camps, and activities that are just plain fun for everyone.

Take a look at the sections below to learn about what we will be up to across our various children and families services in March.

A Mission Full of Fun!

At YMCA St Paul’s Group, we are always striving to provide a safe, fun, and clean environment for the children and families who rely on our services. Our soft play area at the YMCA Hawker Centre is a key part of this, offering a space where young ones can explore and play. Keeping it in top condition, however, is no small task—which is why we were delighted when GoodGym Kingston volunteered their time and energy to give it a deep clean!

The GoodGym Concept

GoodGym helps people get fit by doing good. They are a group of runners, walkers, and cyclists who combine regular exercise with helping their communities. Whether it’s running to assist a local cause, supporting an older person with household tasks, or taking part in community projects like this one, GoodGym is all about making a difference while staying active.

The Clean Up

The GoodGym Kingston team approached YMCA Hawker to offer their services as part of their community work. After an invigorating run along the Thames path, the volunteers arrived ready to take on a challenge! Their team worked hard to freshen up the play space, and got to work, deep-cleaning the ball pit, scrubbing down the soft play equipment, and retrieving lost balls. By the end of the session, the play area was looking fantastic once again. The volunteers couldn’t resist the chance to test out the equipment themselves, enjoying a well-earned play after all their hard work. A huge thank you to GoodGym – we are incredibly grateful for their support!

Happy Pancake Day from everyone at YMCA St Paul’s Group!

We hope you’re enjoying some scrumptious pancakes and having a fantastic day as we prepare to enter the season of Lent.

On Mother’s Day, let’s take a moment to show our appreciation for the mothers in our lives – whether biological, chosen, or in memory.

Your love and guidance have shaped us into the people we are today, and we are forever grateful!
