Children and Families Newsletter: May 2024

Welcome to the May issue of our monthly online newsletter for children and families, produced by the Children and Family Work team at YMCA St. Paul’s Group.

We help whole families to flourish. We have safe and trusted Early Years care and developmental activities, family support and mediation help when difficult issues arise at home or school, summer and school holiday camps, and activities that are just plain fun for everyone.

Take a look at the sections below to learn about what we will be up to across our various children and families services in May.

A special visit from a furry friend!

To celebrate International Pet Day on11 April, Steph brought her dog Charlie to visit the children at Jumpers! Everybody had a lovely time.

Funded Places Available

We currently have funded places available for 2, 3 and 4 year-olds.
Funded places for 9-month olds will be available from September 2024.

St George’s Day Activities

We had a fantastic workshop for Jumpers! Nursery children where all enjoyed a variety of fun St George’s Day-themed activities and crafts. St George’s Day takes place on the 23rd April each year to celebrate St George, the Patron Saint of England.

Are you looking for a venue to hire in South Ealing? We have a purpose made studio, ideal for adults and kids activity and dance classes available to hire.

Available from Monday – Friday, the hire charge is just £30 per hour.

Handsworth After School Club – Published Poets and Monster Madness!

The Children from Handsworth ASC have entered two competitions with the After School Network.

The first one is The Poetry Bus – Little Dreamers where the children had to write their own poem. We are delighted to announce that 26 children got selected for publication!

The second one is Monster Madness, which asked the children to design a monster. Our children showed brilliant creativity, and 31 of their design were selected.

We are so excited to be published again and look forward to seeing our work in the book.

 

Y Kidz Holiday Play Scheme back for May Half Term!

Y Kidz will be providing fun indoors and outdoors. We have a great space at one of our After School Clubs Whittingham Primary Academy.

Children will be involved in a range of fun and engaging indoor and outdoor activities such as small team games, messy play, storytelling, trips to the local park, mindfulness, arts and crafts, music and dance, and lots more.  There will also be sports and lots of other fun activities incorporated into our daily timetable.We have an experienced and qualified staff team who will work with the children.

Tuesday 28 – Friday 31 May

Location:  Whittingham Primary Academy, 340 Higham Hill Road, Walthamstow, E17 5QX

Age Group: 4 -11 year olds (children must be at primary school, from reception – year 6)

Time:
10am – 4pm
8.30 am – 5.30 pm

£34 per day for 10am start
£39 per day for 8.30am start

Children’s holiday playschemes are returning to YMCA Hawker in May half term with Y Kidz!

Y Kidz will be providing fun indoors and outdoors. We have a great space with indoor and outside facilities at the YMCA Hawker in Kingston. We still have spaces, so why not book now!

Children will be involved in a range of fun and engaging indoor and outdoor activities such as small team games, messy play, storytelling, outdoor play in our large grounds, mindfulness, arts and crafts, music and dance, and lots more.  There will also be sports and lots of other fun activities incorporated into our daily timetable.We have an experienced and qualified staff team who will work with the children.

Tuesday 28 May – Friday 31 May

Costs

£45 per day 8.30am – 6pm
£39 per day 10am – 6pm

Age Group:

4 -11 year olds (children must be in reception – year 6)

Softplay fun

Based at the YMCA Hawker in Kingston, the Pod is a two storey soft play centre open seven days a week for indoor play. Costs are just £6.60 per child, including one adult. Visit our Pod page for full details..

All sessions are walk-in only, customers pay at reception. No online booking.

Please check the website for the latest opening times. Session times will be in operation during school holidays.
